Hi Everybody - My name is SueAnn and I am a Specialist in the Army and stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. I found out about the upcoming "Ride For The Fallen And The Wounded" and I want to thank you for what you are doing to support the troops. My brother is bringing my chopper down from Oklahoma and I should be able to ride with you guys. This forum is a great idea and a good way to keep in  touch.

Great Time And A Midnight Ride

Hey Juker - We made it to Freeport without any mishap but I got to tell you that my knees will never be the same. I had forgotten what it was like to ride a V65 Magna for long distances and it was nearly impossible to stretch out in comfort. it was a blast to ride that old bike even though my knees were banging my elbows most of the way. The raw power that little bike generates is amazing and I wish Honda still made them.

The Blues festival was great but the heat was oppressive. All the bikers were hunched down under trees and bushs just trying to stay in the shade. The organizers had the foresight to set up a canopy with water misters and all the women and children were kept comfortable. I took a shot at the slow races but got eliminated because I'm not used to the Magna and we went swimming in the Gulf which was totally cool. We left at 10:00 p.m. on Monday night to avoid the traffic and to beat the heat and we got back to Horseshoe Bay  in the wee hours.

We're headed for the beach!!! One of our favorite bike rallies is the Summertime Blues Festival in Freeport, Texas. This is the third year they've held it and it always promises good food, great biker games, and non stop low down blues. This year I'm riding my tricked out 1985 V65 Magna. I bought this bike brand new in Austin when it was the fastest production motorcycle available.

VTX1800C Riding Position

My backup bike is an 02' VTX1800C and I felt like I was sitting on a fence railing at the corral until I bought the Mustang Sport Touring rig. I'm about 2" closer to the ground now and the padding is a little firmer which is something I prefer on a long ride. I also purchased a set of six inch risers from Aeromach Manufacturing and kicked the bars back 1 1/2" and 1 1/8" higher. If you have felt uncomfortable on your VTX  and you've been looking for a solution you might want to try this combination. The photo below is with the stock seat and risers.
